Makes 4 servings1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
500g Ready Made Meatballs
500g Pork or Beef Mince
1/3 Cup of Plain Flour
20g of Butter
500ml of Beef Stock
1/2 Cup of Sour Cream
Mashed Potato, to Serve (Optional)
Fresh Salad or Steamed Vegetables, to Serve (Optional)
Directions
- If using beef or pork mince instead of ready-made meatballs, combine 500g mince with salt, pepper and optional herbs, then roll into small meatballs before cooking.
- Place flour into a medium bowl and lightly coat the meatballs. Shake off any excess flour and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Reduce heat slightly and add butter to the pan. Stir through any remaining flour and cook for 1 minute to create a roux.
- Gradually pour in beef stock, stirring continuously until smooth and combined.
- Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the meatballs are cooked through.
- Stir through sour cream and cook for a further 1 to 2 minutes until warmed through. Avoid boiling after adding sour cream.
- Serve warm with creamy mashed potato, salad or steamed vegetables.
